Widening Horizons

IGNITE Reiki Retreat 2024 returned to Spirit Haven Ranch in Flatonia, Texas, for our second year together.

Sometimes widening your horizons means learning to adapt.

Our theme, Widening Horizons, was about expanding our understanding of Reiki, exploring new perspectives, and opening ourselves to experiences beyond what was already familiar.

And then Texas winter decided to contribute a lesson of its own.

With freezing temperatures moving in, we made the decision to end the retreat early so everyone could travel home safely. It wasn’t the weekend we’d planned, but adaptability, community, and caring for one another became part of the experience.

The Labyrinth

Even during a much shorter weekend, the labyrinth remained part of the IGNITE landscape—a place for reflection, intention, and quiet connection with the land.

The Journey Continued

Widening Horizons didn’t unfold quite the way we’d imagined. Sometimes the experience itself becomes the lesson.

IGNITE Reiki Retreat 2024 reminded us that retreats ask us to step outside our routines, be present with what is happening around us, and sometimes let go of the experience we thought we were going to have.

In 2024, that meant adapting. We gathered, connected, and shared what time we had together—and when the weather changed our plans, we chose safety and made sure everyone had time to get home before conditions worsened.

Our second IGNITE reminded us that gathering in community also means looking out for one another, adapting when circumstances change, and knowing when it’s time to change the plan.

The weekend may have been shorter than expected, but the journey wasn’t over. We would gather again.
