Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk
All participants must read and agree to this Release of Liability and Assumption of Risk before registering for the IGNITE Reiki Retreat (“IGNITE”).
Assumption of Risk
I understand that IGNITE is an overnight retreat held at Cleburne State Park and that participation may include indoor and outdoor activities, workshops, Reiki practice, meditation, ritual, hiking or walking on trails, and other recreational or spiritual activities.
I understand that participation in IGNITE involves risks, including but not limited to uneven or slippery terrain, weather conditions, insects and wildlife, water and other natural features, shared lodging and facilities, physical activity, and the actions of other participants. I understand that these and other risks may result in illness, injury, property damage, or, in rare circumstances, death.
I voluntarily choose to participate in IGNITE and knowingly assume the risks associated with my attendance and participation. I agree to use reasonable care for my own safety, follow applicable park and retreat rules, and promptly notify IGNITE staff of any condition I believe presents an unreasonable safety risk.
Participation in Activities
I understand that participation in individual IGNITE activities is voluntary. I am responsible for determining whether I am physically and otherwise able to participate safely in any activity and may decline or discontinue participation at any time.
I understand that Reiki, meditation, spiritual practices, workshops, and other activities offered at IGNITE are provided for educational, personal, or spiritual purposes and are not substitutes for medical or mental health diagnosis or treatment.
Emergency Medical Care
If I experience a medical emergency and am unable to make decisions or communicate my wishes, I authorize IGNITE staff or others assisting with the event to contact emergency medical services and take reasonable steps to obtain emergency care on my behalf. I understand that I am responsible for any costs associated with such care.
Release of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and hold harmless IGNITE Reiki Retreat, its organizers, instructors, volunteers, staff, and agents from claims arising from the ordinary risks inherent in my voluntary attendance at or participation in IGNITE, including personal injury, illness, death, or loss of or damage to personal property.
This release does not apply to conduct that cannot lawfully be released or waived.
Participant Responsibility
I accept responsibility for my own conduct and participation during IGNITE and agree to comply with retreat rules and applicable rules of Cleburne State Park. I understand that failure to follow those rules or conduct that creates a safety concern or substantially interferes with the retreat may result in my removal from an activity or from IGNITE.
Acknowledgment and Electronic Signature
I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK, UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, AND VOLUNTARILY AGREE TO THEM.
By affirmatively agreeing to this Release during registration, I consent to the use of my electronic acceptance as my signature and intend it to have the same force and effect as a handwritten signature.
Photography and Media Policy and Release
IGNITE values both the privacy of our participants and the ability to preserve and share the community, connection, learning, and experiences that make the retreat special.
Photography and video may occur throughout IGNITE for event documentation, future promotion, the IGNITE website, social media, advertising, and other marketing or informational purposes.
Photography During the Retreat
Participants and designated photographers may take photographs and video in shared retreat spaces unless an activity, facilitator, or area has been designated as photo-free.
Everyone is expected to use consideration and good judgment when photographing others. Particular care should be taken during Reiki sessions, meditation, ritual, personal reflection, emotional moments, or other experiences in which participants may reasonably expect greater privacy.
IGNITE may designate particular activities, portions of activities, or spaces as photo-free. Participants must respect those designations.
Participants Who Do Not Wish to Be Photographed
Participants who do not wish to appear in photographs or video may opt out of photography.
IGNITE will provide a method for identifying participants who have opted out. Event photographers, staff, and participants are expected to make reasonable efforts to avoid photographing or recording identifiable participants who have opted out and to respect requests not to be photographed.
Participants who opt out are also encouraged to remind a photographer if they believe they may be included in a photograph or recording.
Permission to Use Images
Unless I opt out of photography as provided by IGNITE, I authorize IGNITE Reiki Retreat to photograph and/or record me during the retreat and grant IGNITE permission to use photographs, video, or other recordings in which I appear for legitimate IGNITE purposes, including event documentation, its website, social media, advertising, promotional materials, and future retreat marketing.
I understand that these materials may be published publicly and may remain available after the retreat.
I understand that I will not receive compensation for the creation or use of these photographs or recordings and waive any right to inspect or approve the finished materials in which they are used.
IGNITE will not knowingly sell an identifiable participant’s image to an unrelated third party for that third party’s independent commercial use without separate permission.
Participants Under 18
A parent or legal guardian must make the photography choice for any participant under the age of 18.
If I am completing this acknowledgment on behalf of a minor participant and do not opt the minor out of photography, I represent that I am the participant’s parent or legal guardian and authorize photography, recording, and use of the minor’s image as described above.
Respect for Others
My permission to photograph or record at IGNITE does not give me unrestricted permission to photograph other participants.
I agree to respect photo-free activities and spaces, participants who have opted out, and reasonable requests from another participant not to photograph or record them.
Acknowledgment
I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE IGNITE PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA POLICY.
I understand that photography and video may occur during IGNITE, that I have the opportunity to opt out, and that if I do not opt out, I grant IGNITE permission to photograph or record me and use those materials as described above.
Ready to Register?
I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND IT. BY CONTINUING TO REGISTER FOR THE EVENT, I VOLUNTARILY CONSENT TO THE USE OF MY REGISTRATION AS AN ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE IN LIEU OF AN ORIGINAL SIGNATURE ON PAPER.
